That said, here are some interesting facts about lobsters.
1. They keep growing forever.
Interesting one right? Imagine if you could keep growing forever?
Research shows that they can grow to be up over 4 feet long and around 100 years. That is really amazing. A Boston University lecturer says that they seem to never stop growing, unlike their crustacean cousins, crabs, reach a point at which the carapace (the outer shell) will not grow any larger. But nature never hemmed in lobsters.
2. They taste with their legs.
Did you know lobsters taste their foods with their legs? Interesting.
Their chemosensory leg and feet hairs identify food. Small antennae in front of their eyes are used for tracking down food that’s farther away. According to Robert C. Bayer, executive director of The Lobster Institute at the University of Maine: “If you watch a lobster in a tank in a market, you’ll see they’re flipping, looking for food, dissolved substances in the water.”
3 They cannot process pain
Did you know Lobsters cannot process pain?
The noise you hear is “air that has been trapped in the stomach and forced through the mouth after being out of water for short periods of time,” according to Bayer. Lobsters don’t have vocal chords, hence why they can’t process pain.
